Guidelines advise women over 40 get a routine mammogram once a year. Women between 35 and 40 may also benefit from talking to your doctor about when and how often to schedule a mammogram.

A routine breast screening mammogram is a quick and simple procedure – and one of the most important tools for early detection of breast cancer. Mammography results help doctors diagnose breast cancer at an earlier, more treatable stage. Mammograms can detect cancer up to three years before you’d be able to feel a lump in your breast or experience other symptoms of breast cancer.
